Cooking and Connection at Mansfield Library with Mrs. Crystal Thomas

Posted: Oct 3, 2025, 4:00 PM

The Mansfield Main Library has become a place for hands-on learning and community connection every Wednesday, thanks to Mrs. Crystal Thomas of the Shirley Thomas New Wings Foundation.

Mrs. Thomas leads the library’s Adult Cooking Class, where participants gather to explore new recipes, learn practical kitchen skills, and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. A recent session featured a fresh and flavorful chicken salad that everyone had the chance to prepare and taste.

Through her work with the Shirley Thomas New Wings Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in honor of Shirley Thomas, Mrs. Thomas brings not only culinary knowledge but also a mission of compassion. The foundation is dedicated to promoting health by providing support, resources, and education to individuals who are terminally ill and to their caregivers.

The weekly class offers more than just cooking; it provides a sense of connection and support, making it a meaningful experience for all who attend.
