Celebrate National Library Week: Poster Making Contest – "Drawn to the Library" (April 6-12, 2025)

Join the fun and showcase your artistic talent in the National Library Week Poster Making Contest! Celebrate National Library Week by participating in this exciting contest, where your creativity can shine. Below are the details for submitting your poster and the contest rules:

Contest Categories

  • Children (Ages 0-11)

  • Teens (Ages 12-17)

  • Adults (Ages 18 and above)

Poster Requirements

  1. Theme: All posters must reflect the theme “Drawn to the Library.”

  2. Poster Paper: Posters must be created on official contest paper provided by DeSoto Parish Library. Paper can be picked up at any library location.

  3. Media: Any artistic medium is allowed (paint, markers, crayons, pencils, digital art, collage, etc.), but entries must be flat and able to be displayed on a wall or board.

  4. Originality: Posters must be original works. No copyrighted images or plagiarism allowed.

  5. Submission Deadline: Entries must be submitted to the library branch where you wish to compete by noon on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Judging & Voting

  1. Branch-Level Contests: Each library location will host its own contest.

  2. Public Voting: Posters will be displayed at each DeSoto Parish Library branch from April 14-17, 2025.

  3. One Vote Per Person: Voting slips will be available from library staff. Each person may cast only one vote per category.

  4. Voting Locations: Votes can be submitted at the library where the poster was entered.

  5. Winners: The poster with the most votes in each category at each branch will be declared the winner.

Awards & Recognition

  • One winner per category (Children, Teens, Adults) will be selected at each library location.

  • Winners will be announced on April 21, 2025.

  • Winning posters will be displayed at each library location during the week of April 21-26, 2025.

  • Winning artwork will also be featured on the DeSoto Parish Library’s website and social media.

  • Prizes: Each winner will receive a special prize along with a Certificate of Achievement.

Additional Rules

  1. One Entry Per Person: Each participant may submit only one poster.

  2. Identification: Each poster must include the contestant’s name, age category, and contact information (phone or email) on the back.

  3. No Offensive Content: Posters must be appropriate for all ages. Any work deemed inappropriate by library staff will be disqualified.

  4. No Late Entries: Posters submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

  5. Library Use Rights: By entering, participants grant DeSoto Parish Library permission to display and share their artwork.

Library Fine Amnesty Week

In addition to the poster contest, we are also hosting Library Fine Amnesty Week. During this week, you can clear your library fines with no penalties (excluding hotspot fines and fines for damaged or lost books). Don’t miss this opportunity to catch up on your library account!
