An immediate regular, full-time Library Assistant II position in Circulation services is available at the Pelican branch for 40 hours per week. Hours are:
Monday – Friday 8:30-5:00
Saturday – See explanation below
This position requires staff members to work a Saturday based on rotation, which will be assigned on a monthly calendar. When working a scheduled Saturday (9:00-1:00), the staff member will be off ½ day on Friday. This position performs a variety of clerical and technical duties. Assignments typically involve checking out and receiving library items, receiving payments, and providing general information to patrons.
BASIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
Check out to patron and receive Library print and non-print materials. Calculate and collect funds due from the public. Record receipt of returned materials and reintroduce materials into the circulation system. Process new and replacement user cards. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the scope of knowledge and refer to employees of higher classification as appropriate. Enforce Library rules. If scheduled, open or close the library following established procedures. Monitor library security, safety, and health conditions. Maintain Library in a neat and orderly fashion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB:
Education: High school diploma or GED, Experience with ILS systems is a plus.
Experience: Must have computer ability to adequately utilize automated library circulation system (SIRSI, Workflows). Prior library experience is preferred. Demonstrated customer service experience will be a major factor. Must have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

An immediate regular, full-time LIBRARY ASSISTANT III position is available at the Mansfield library location in Children’s Services for 40 hours per week. THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO BOTH STAFF AND PUBLIC.
Saturday Position does not normally work Saturdays but may be asked if location needs staffing.
This position is responsible for the development of the children's services at Mansfield location. Coordinates community programs involving children's services. Acts as branch manager is the absence of branch manager. Basic duties are CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT (development and implementation of children's reading, craft and story time programs., etc.); PUBLIC SERVICE & CIRCULATION OF MATERIALS (checking materials in and out, registering patrons, and other circulation and public contact tasks); GENERAL LIBRARY CLERICAL DUTIES (shelving books, etc.), and other duties per job descriptions. Successful applicants must have demonstrated previous work with children programming, public service skills, documented ability for job tasks, and ability to work in a team-oriented department. PERSONS WITH CHILDREN SERVICE EXPERIENCE GIVEN PREFERENCE.
Prior experience in working with children is a requirement for this position. In your letter, list applicable experience in children programming and program development. Demonstrated ability for public service and public contact, plus basic word processing skills and basic Internet navigation skills is a plus. Documented record of establishing strong, supportive, cooperative relationships and positive communications with coworkers and supervisors in a collaborative, cooperative work setting is a requirement. Staff working with children are required by state law to pass a background check before hiring.
